Il laboratorio dell'imperfetto
design and poetry
Imperfetto, meaning unique and exclusive like the fibreglass objects that Il laboratorio dell'imperfetto creates and exhibits in its loft nearby Gambettola, a small town in the Forlì-Cesena province.
Verter Turroni and Emanuela Ravelli have restyled this old building and have furnished it with their works; vases, stools, chairs, benches, tables, lamps, trays, plates, bowls and sculptures which are inspired by the imperfection of the raw materials; the synthesis between natural and artificial that become familiar, domestic.
Fibreglass is the material they have chosen for the creation of these works because it is light, it can be translucent, dark or white, coloured by clays or fire painted, it suits indoors but also outdoors as it is resistant rain and sunlight.
Each piece is made from a mould, it is then sanded, painted and polished by hand. This meticulous and precise attention makes every single work unique and peculiar.
The names and shapes recall nature, bulbi, gusci, ciottoli, but their unusual dimensions disclose Verter and Emanuela's talent for sculpture and painting.
It was the year 2002 when Verter and Emanuela, along with their activity of set designers for architects, ateliers and events, set up the works of these objects to fulfil their creative desire to actually give shape and substance to emotions and ideas, continuing their research they set forth at the Academy of Fine Arts.
Imperfettolab is the trademark of Verter Turroni and Emanuela Ravelli's design and works
Imperfettogallery is a branch of il laboratorio dell'imperfetto which promotes art research. It develops exhibition projects and performances. It is a place where artists can experiment and verify their work. The projects are mainly site-specific and come to life from long term relationships. It also cooperates with other research spaces in Italy (O' - Milano) and in Austria (Hotel Pupik).
